Good Hope Meat Hyper (GHMH) provides top-quality fresh Halaal meat and exceptional service to loyal customers and businesses throughout South Africa. We’ve also supplied meat products to events such as the 2010 Soccer World Cup, the Cape Town Jazz Festival and more. Our shop in Salt River, Cape Town boasts meat products, a continental deli, a hot deli with home-made dishes, a bakery, groceries, spices and more.

The late Mr Dawood and Mrs Sharifa Ahmed founded GHMH in 1972 on principles of unwavering commitment to quality and care. Their business flourished into a national success story and became a household name. This investment in quality and care has kept customers coming back for more than four decades. GHMH is still run by the Ahmed family today.

Good Hope Meat Hyper is a BEE-compliant company that employs over 70 highly knowledgeable and passionate people. Their loyalty to the company and job satisfaction is evident in our low staff turnover. Under the capable leadership of store manager Nizaam Enus, who has been with the company for over 30 years, GHMH employees strive meet and exceed the expectations of our customers and to be the very best in the industry.

We believe that the quality of our meat starts with rigorous screening of abattoirs and suppliers, followed by hand-selection of fresh meat. Once the meat arrives at our premises, strict hygiene standards, modern equipment and knowledgeable staff make sure that our customers receive top-quality meat.

GHMH has a Research and Development department that works to keep our product range relevant and of the highest quality. Among others, the R&D department investigates, creates and tests Halaal dishes and specialised products for retail clients such as restaurant chains, catering companies and event managers. The R&D department also tests the shelf-life of products alongside the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) for quality confirmation.

GHMH has state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and we adhere to strict hygiene standards. We use on-site refrigerated holding equipment, production machinery, modern storage facilities and display counters. GHMH has a Gold rating from Food Safety Assessment of South Africa for our processed meat and raw meat production facilities.

GHMH is also the only butchery in the Western Cape that is certified by the Islamic Council of South Africa and MJC, and endorsed by NIHT. We sell SANHA-endorsed meat on request as well. GHMH has export permits in both these categories, which is a first for any butchery in the country.
